Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a detail oriented Administrative Assistant 3 in Public Health. ** This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The Administrative Assistant 3 will conduct recruitment/retention activities, perform data collection, complete study documentation, process payments to participants, maintain accounts, inventory of lab supplies, perform Workday transactions as needed, office management, outreach to participants to schedule interviews, manage survey data and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR
• One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 27
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.

Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is recruiting for an Athletic Trainer with the School of Public Health. The position of Athletic Trainer is a salaried position within the Neuromechanics Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Nicholas Murray. The Neuromechanics Laboratory provides concussion diagnostic testing and the athletic trainer will be a part of the clinical arm of our facility. This position is specifically for an outreach athletic trainer who will be working in and at a designated high school. The duties of the athletic trainer include, but are not limited to, prevention of athletic injuries, recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, health care administration, professional development and responsibility as specified in the Domains of the NATA Certified Athletic Trainer. The athletic trainer serves as a liaison between physicians, coaches, athletes, and parents. The athletic trainer ensures that players participate only when physically able and that any physician instructions are understood and followed. The athletic trainer will coordinate with the Activities/Athletic Director to ensure that the athletic training room and all required events will be covered.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree and one year of related work experience.
Related Experience: Athletic training experience and/or medical assistant experience or related field.
Certification and Licensure:
Board certified athletic trainer

Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Scientist position in environmental social science, with a focus on drought adaptation in rural communities. The candidate will be co-mentored by Dr. Elizabeth Koebele, Department of Political Science, and Dr. Loretta Singletary, Extension and Department of Economics. The anticipated start date of the position is June 1, 2025, and the candidate must be available to work in-person at UNR/in northern Nevada.
The candidate will work on the multi-state research project “Where We Live” funded by a National Science Foundation EPSCOR RII Track-2 award. The project investigates perceptions of and experiences with climate impacts and adaptation behaviors in rural communities across Nevada (focus on drought), Idaho (focus on wildfire), and South Carolina (focus on extreme heat). The postdoctoral scholar will be part of the Nevada interdisciplinary team, which includes diverse scholars from UNR and the Desert Research Institute, as well as the broader multi-state project team.
We seek candidates with a strong interest in interdisciplinary scholarship, a demonstrated background in social science methods, and prior experience in socio-environmental synthesis for this role. The scholar will co-design and lead qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis for the Nevada team, including primary data collection through interviews in rural communities. They will also co-produce new knowledge in partnership with other scientists, local community stakeholders, and decision makers.
The scholar will also have opportunities for formal and informal mentoring, including the required creation and submission of an Individual Development Plan (IDP) in collaboration with the project mentors and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at UNR. Additional funding will be made available for the scholar to travel to conferences and in-person team meetings.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in environmental studies, sustainability, public policy/public affairs, water resources, sociology, resource economics, urban studies, or a related field by the start date of the position.
A strong interest in interdisciplinary scholarship and environmental/rural issues.
Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, as documented through course work or previous research.
Demonstrated capacity to work independently and lead the development and publication of research results.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in multiple venues (academic conferences, stakeholder meetings, etc.)
Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.
The doctoral degree must have been completed within the five years immediately preceding the first date of appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at the University.

Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a detail oriented Administrative Assistant 3 in Public Health. ** This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The Administrative Assistant 3 will conduct recruitment/retention activities, perform data collection, complete study documentation, process payments to participants, maintain accounts, inventory of lab supplies, perform Workday transactions as needed, office management, outreach to participants to schedule interviews, manage survey data and other duties as assigned.

Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno, School of Public Health is seeking organized, flexible and independent candidates for a full-time Project Coordinator. The Project Coordinator will oversee aspects of multiple grant-funded research projects within the School of Public Health. This position supports the Coordinator, Evaluation & Research to meet current study goals, and expand harm reduction research in Northern Nevada by supporting a pipeline of sustained harm reduction research infrastructure. Join our diverse and supportive team of professionals, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students to build rapport and trust with people who use drugs in Northern Nevada and accomplish the aims of this NIH-funded study. Our accepting atmosphere is rooted in harm reduction, meeting people where they are at and not leaving them there.
The Recruitment & Retention Coordinator will work primarily on 1) NIH-funded longitudinal mixed methods study, and 2) establishing a Living Experience Board for the Washoe County Opioid Abatement & Recovery Fund (WOARF). Responsibilities for this project include but are not limited to: 1) leading a team to complete monthly contact updates with study participants via phone, text, email, and street-based outreach efforts and to locate study participants who have been lost to follow-up; 2) assist the CER in conducting quality assurance of study data including primary collected data and associated paperwork; 3) and address questions or concerns raised by research assistants to maintain high rigor of study data and compliance with regulations relating to research with human subjects; 4) create and maintain a standard operating procedure manual for the LEB including membership requirements, conflict resolution standards, and board operation (including regular meetings, process for documenting meetings and decisions made, etc.); 5) Recruit appropriate board members and establish a monthly meeting time in concert with the WOARF Steering Committee meetings, 6) assist the CER to hire and train data collectors to conduct primary data collection to inform the WOARF needs assessment survey; and to 7) write reports and present findings of the needs assessment to the WOARF Steering Committee. 8) As needed, conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection and/or analysis, either independently or in collaboration with other research team members, to support dissemination of research findings.

The Sanford Center for Aging at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine invites applications for the position of Program Coordinator, Health and Wellness. The Health and Wellness Program Coordinator (HWPC) works alongside the Sanford Center community wellness program team to assist in implementing the Center's portfolio of wellness programs targeted to older adults. Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno has an amazing opportunity for an experienced Communications Officer for our newly developed "Nevada Lithium Batteries and Other EV Materials Loop" Regional Technology and Innovation Hub ("Nevada Tech Hub"). Reporting to the Regional Innovation Officer (RIO), this position has an integral role in the success of the Nevada Tech Hub to advance both the Tech Hub and the University's strategic priorities. The Tech Hub Communications Officer will be in recurring communication with national, regional and local media; serve as a spokesperson for Nevada Tech Hub; update the Nevada Tech Hub website; provide issue management support; and direct and implement a social media strategy. Through these efforts, the Tech Hub Communications Officer also provides communication counsel and media interview coaching to the RIO and the others in the Nevada Tech Hub team. The Communications Officer works closely with and follows the direction set by the University's Office of Marketing and Communication to align with the overall strategy, priorities and brand standards of the University. The position functions as a partnership between the Nevada Tech Hub and the Office of Marketing and Communications, but reports directly to RIO.

Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno has an amazing opportunity for an experienced Communications Officer for our newly developed "Nevada Lithium Batteries and Other EV Materials Loop" Regional Technology and Innovation Hub ("Nevada Tech Hub"). Reporting to the Regional Innovation Officer (RIO), this position has an integral role in the success of the Nevada Tech Hub to advance both the Tech Hub and the University's strategic priorities. The Tech Hub Communications Officer will be in recurring communication with national, regional and local media; serve as a spokesperson for Nevada Tech Hub; update the Nevada Tech Hub website; provide issue management support; and direct and implement a social media strategy. Through these efforts, the Tech Hub Communications Officer also provides communication counsel and media interview coaching to the RIO and the others in the Nevada Tech Hub team. The Communications Officer works closely with and follows the direction set by the University's Office of Marketing and Communication to align with the overall strategy, priorities and brand standards of the University. The position functions as a partnership between the Nevada Tech Hub and the Office of Marketing and Communications, but reports directly to RIO.

Job Description
The Honors College at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks candidates for the Director of Undergraduate Fellowships. The Director serves all undergraduate and graduate students, including recent alumni, at the University of Nevada, Reno. The Director is a member of the Honors faculty and reports to the Associate Dean of the Honors College.
This is a part-time appointment for either a 9-month or 12-month academic. This position can be a joint hire with another University department/college to which a memorandum of understanding (MOU) will be negotiated upon hire with the partnering department/college. This position can also be a part-time 0.5 FTE position without a joint appointment.
The Director of the Office of Undergraduate Fellowships (OUF) recruits and supports student applicants for nationally and globally competitive fellowships. Though OUF is housed in the Honors College, it serves all undergraduate and graduate students and recent alumni. As a member of the Honors faculty, the Director teaches a one-credit fellowship writing honors course fall and spring semesters.
The Director supervises a staff that includes a part-time faculty member, one graduate teaching assistant, and 3-4 student interns. With the help of the Honors College fiscal officer, the Director manages the budget of OUF which includes funds for events, awards, and student travel and research. The Director works with faculty, staff, and community partners to provide multiple levels of support for applicants and their mentors. The Director also manages all data related to recruiting and supporting applicants and provides regular reports on nominees and awardees to campus leadership and stakeholders.
The Director is also the President of the campus chapter of Phi Kappa Phi and oversees the induction of new members every year and maintains an active membership with the National Association of Fellowship Advisors.

Job Description
The Honors College at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks candidates for the Director of Undergraduate Fellowships. Job Description
The Bioinformatics Center at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Scholar to join our team, available immediately. As the center is growing and expanding to support a variety of omics and data research, we are actively seeking a talented postdoctoral fellow, who is interested in bioinformatics, data science, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, multi-omics and/or related fields, to join our team and help us expand our supported services and research fields. The postdoctoral fellow will assist on selected ongoing projects and is encouraged to learn cutting-edge technologies and to explore new research areas. Applications to NIH/NSF grants and fellowships will be highly encouraged. The center supports a variety of career paths and as such the postdoctoral fellow will be mentored by at least two faculty, the director of the center and one academic tenure-track faculty.
The postdoctoral fellow will work on high-dimensional multi-omics data sets, for example WGS, WES, RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, proteomics and /or metagenomics. They will work closely with experimental life scientists for example to develop tools and analyze genomic (e.g., RNA-Seq, ChIP-seq, scRNA-seq) and epigenetic (PTM and DNA methylation) data using novel and previously published NGS datasets. As a team, the center performs integrated multi-omics, statistical, data science, and bioinformatics analyses applied to a variety of scientific problems. The postdoctoral fellow will have access to training opportunities.
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to perform bioinformatics related research and develop analysis pipelines and relevant software programs in collaboration and under the supervision of the center's director and an academic faculty mentor. The postdoc fellow is expected to publish their research outcomes and to help other researchers in preparing manuscripts. They will be encouraged to improve their teaching skills by developing and providing workshops for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for research faculty.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring conducted in a dynamic academic core environment.
Required Qualifications
• Ph.D. in bioinformatics, data science, computational sciences, statistics or a related field.
• 3+ years of Python or R programming experience.
• Experience in bash/shell scripting and Linux environment (Ubuntu), applied statistics, high-dimensional omics data analytics for at least one type of omics.
• Excellent writing skills and independent and critical thinking ability.
• Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.
• The doctoral degree must have been completed within the five years immediately preceding the first date of appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at the University.
• The individual cannot have held previous positions in the professional ranks.

Job Description
The Bioinformatics Center at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Scholar to join our team, available immediately. We are accepting applications from talented and enthusiastic candidates who are interested in joining an integrated and diverse team of scientists to support a broad spectrum of research projects. unr.edu/bioinformatics

As the center is growing and expanding to support a variety of omics and data research, we are actively seeking a talented postdoctoral fellow, who is interested in bioinformatics, data science, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, multi-omics and/or related fields, to join our team and help us expand our supported services and research fields. The postdoctoral fellow will assist on selected ongoing projects and is encouraged to learn cutting-edge technologies and to explore new research areas. Applications to NIH/NSF grants and fellowships will be highly encouraged. The center supports a variety of career paths and as such the postdoctoral fellow will be mentored by at least two faculty, the director of the center and one academic tenure-track faculty.
The postdoctoral fellow will work on high-dimensional multi-omics data sets, for example WGS, WES, RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, proteomics and /or metagenomics. They will work closely with experimental life scientists for example to develop tools and analyze genomic (e.g., RNA-Seq, ChIP-seq, scRNA-seq) and epigenetic (PTM and DNA methylation) data using novel and previously published NGS datasets. As a team, the center performs integrated multi-omics, statistical, data science, and bioinformatics analyses applied to a variety of scientific problems. The postdoctoral fellow will have access to training opportunities.
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to perform bioinformatics related research and develop analysis pipelines and relevant software programs in collaboration and under the supervision of the center's director and an academic faculty mentor. The postdoc fellow is expected to publish their research outcomes and to help other researchers in preparing manuscripts. They will be encouraged to improve their teaching skills by developing and providing workshops for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for research faculty.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring conducted in a dynamic academic core environment.
Required Qualifications
• Ph.D. in bioinformatics, data science, computational sciences, statistics or a related field.
• 3+ years of Python or R programming experience.
• Experience in bash/shell scripting and Linux environment (Ubuntu), applied statistics, high-dimensional omics data analytics for at least one type of omics.
• Excellent writing skills and independent and critical thinking ability.
• Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.
• The doctoral degree must have been completed within the five years immediately preceding the first date of appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at the University.
• The individual cannot have held previous positions in the professional ranks.

• A strong scientific publication record
• Strong quantitative/computational biology background
• Advanced computing skills, e.g., HPC, cloud
• Familiarity with data mining/data science and working with publicly available databases
