The Fund seeks an ambitious, impact-driven, experienced Head of Global Foundation Partnerships who thrives on challenging, high-impact resource mobilization objectives. This individual will join an energetic, passionate team, working relentlessly to realize the bold vision of a global Fund by building coalitions of committed funders and mobilizing significant resources around the world.
As Head of Global Foundation Partnerships, you will develop and drive strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective foundation donors with a special focus on securing multi-year gifts in support of the Fund and its strategic programs. This position has a direct impact on the Fund’s reputation among key stakeholders and partners as well as the financial and operational performance of the organization. You will be expected to be agile, resilient, and persistent in the face of global challenges and work collaboratively with the CEO, Director of Strategic Partnerships, and key members of the Strategy & Design team to identify and prioritize foundation donor leads, build rapport with prospects, develop pitches for funding, and ultimately secure significant financial commitments.
The Head of Global Foundation Partnerships is expected to have significant overseas travel (up to 40%) during peak donor engagement and outreach periods (after Covid-related travel restrictions lift).
Refine and revise organizational resource mobilization strategy (in coordination with CEO and Director of Strategic Partnerships)
Set annual and quarterly donor engagement targets
Research prospective foundation donors to gain actionable insights into funding priorities, strategic priorities, affinity for the Fund’s mission, and opportunities to align with adjacent-issue funding streams
Leverage relevant networks and background research to identify and prioritize targets
Develop targeted pitch decks, talking points, and other collaterals as needed to engage prospective donors
Partner with GFEMS Board members, CEO, Director of Strategic Partnerships, and Strategy and Design team to prioritize, coordinate, and execute outreach
Spearhead brainstorming and development of new opportunities and approaches to engage stakeholders and secure commitments
Leverage technology and social media where possible to improve outreach (especially in the context of ongoing COVID-related travel restrictions)
Develop and maintain ongoing communications and relationships with major donors and prospects
Track and assess outreach efforts
Perform other major donor activities and support global convenings as required
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 8 years professional experience in Business development, donor engagement (e.g., foundations, corporates, or HNWIs, etc.), or relevant field. Relevant advanced degree preferred.
Demonstrated progressive responsibility and success in resource mobilization, global partnership-building, foundation engagement or similar role.
Significant global network of foundations and other donors (e.g., corporates, HNWIs, etc.)
Proven ability to build relationships, engage stakeholders, and develop compelling pitches that take into consideration funder interests, motivations, giving patterns, and other preferences.
Proven ability to set strategic goals and execute.
Experience implementing and/or using CRM systems to manage donor outreach preferred.
Demonstrated understanding of intersection of modern slavery with global trends and priorities
High level of discretion and ethical approach to resource mobilization.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively, and cross-functionally with various team members and external constituents.
Demonstrated ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
