Assistant Director of the Belldegrun Center for Innovative Leadership 

Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is looking for an Assistant Director of the BelldegrunCenter for Innovative Leadership (BCIL) beginning in August, 2020. We are seeking individuals with administrative experience to assist the BCIL Director in maintaining a dynamic environment in the Center. Candidates should have at least 5 years of teaching or other relevant experience in leadership positions, and hold an advanced degree.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:


Innovative Teaching & Learning

Collaborate with BCIL Director and Curriculum Innovators and Collaborators (CICs) to create lesson plans and workshops on Core Leadership Skills, specific to each divisionWork with BCIL Director, Division Heads, and CICs to align BCIL courses and projects with mission and skillsWork collaboratively with BCIL Director and CICs to provide ongoing division-specific and K-12 professional development opportunities that align with BCIL mission and skills Oversee student evaluation of BCIL experience; collect, manage, analyze, and present data about student experience in BCIL classesObserve BCIL teachers across divisions and provide feedback [non-evaluative with the goal of increasing consistency and understanding of how teachers are delivering BCIL lessons] Source guest speakers and research best K-12 and university practices related to BCIL projects and classesWork collaboratively with BCIL Director and CICs to run BCIL-teacher training sessions Work with Division Directors to establish programs for new teacher orientation and in-service training for all teachersSupport Extracurricular Innovator and Collaborator and Fabrication Innovator and Collaborator on K-12 programming


External and Summer Programming

Work with BCIL Director, Extracurricular Innovator and Collaborator, and BCIL Collaborative to develop workshops/conferences/presentations for external audiences. Coordinate and participate in BCIL portion of K-12 interviews for new faculty and staff Support Director in overseeing enrollment, recruitment, and selection process for BCIL Summer Leadership InstituteMaintain ongoing communication and database with BCIL Summer Institute alumni Collaborate with faculty and CICs to develop BCIL summer curriculum


K-12 Programming

Partner with BCIL Director in the daily operations/meetings of the BCIL and the successful manifestation of BCIL’s mission and growthCoordinate BCIL Scholars and BCIL Entrepreneurship programs for students with BCIL Director/Collaborative including application process, selection, ongoing student work, and final presentations Manage on campus and external mentorship program for BCIL Scholars and BCIL Entrepreneurship programs pairing students with professors, graduate students, and professionalsPartner with BCIL Director in working collaboratively with Service Learning Directors, the Office of Equity and Inclusion, and the Technology DirectorsPartner with BCIL Director and Communications Department on public relations for the BCIL regularly writing/speaking publicly at Parent Association, Admissions, and Alumni events (including evening programming)Coordinate BCIL annual calendar with input from innovators and collaboratorsOther duties as assigned by the BCIL DirectorTeach a minimum of one course
