About the Department:
The Office of New Student Orientation and Transitions is housed within the Office of the Dean of Students unit of the Division of Student Affairs. This Office is responsible for supporting student success and transitions for SMU undergraduate students, including coordinating the fall and spring versions of Mustang Start-Up (SMU’s virtual orientation program), Stampede (the extended orientation program), and other critical transition programs.

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Coordinator for Orientation & Transitions is responsible for supporting the vision, initiatives, programs, and daily operations of the Orientation & Transitions office for new SMU undergraduate students. The Coordinator will serve as programming support for major transition programs including Fall and Spring versions of orientation, student success and transitions, as well as promote institutional affinity. The Coordinator collaborates with orientation staff and partners across campus to understand and meet the needs of matriculating students and their families. Also, supports University enrollment goals by participating in committees and initiatives that improve the transition experience and overall retention of new students.

Programming - Serves as programming support for all orientation and transition events. Ensures cohesion across all orientation programming including virtual and in-person. Recruiting - Manages the full lifecycle of orientation student volunteers and student orientation leaders. Responsible for the creation of promotional materials for student outreach. Leads informational meetings, tabling sessions, social media campaigns, and other marketing opportunities as they arise.
Supervision - Partners with the Director of Orientation & Transitions to design training curriculum for orientation leaders and orientation student volunteers. Supervises orientation leaders daily throughout the summer to ensure execution on orientation programming. Provides orientation leaders with opportunities for professional development and team harmony.
Ordering, event reservations and support - Makes purchases on behalf of the orientation office for programming. Responsible for securing location reservations and auxiliary support for events through campus reservation system
Occasional evening/weekend hours will be required for events.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred. A degree in higher education, counseling and student personnel or student affairs administration is preferred.
A minimum of two years of experience is required. Previous higher education experience is preferred, particularly experience in programming, large-scale event planning/coordinating, social media marketing, and student advising, training, teaching, and facilitation. Individuals active or engaged in professional associations such as NODA or NASPA is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills along with a commitment to student development and training and a willingness to take initiative.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning, time management and project management skills.
Candidate familiarity with best practices and theories regarding orientation, transitions and retention is a plus.

The Staff Psychologist is responsible for providing mental health services to currently enrolled students at SMU. Reporting to the Director of Counseling Services, this position provides direct and indirect clinical services, including initial assessments, individual and group therapy, drop in and crisis intervention, outreach education/programming, and consultation to faculty/staff, students, family members, and others. This position also provides supervision of graduate student trainees. About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated substance abuse counselor to help provide guidance and support for our students. In this role, you are responsible for conducting intake assessments, individual counseling, group therapy, and case coordination services. In addition you are required to develop all Substance Use Disorder (SUD) programming and treatment. You are also called upon to provide consultation and help with coordination of peer recovery services on campus.
To ensure success, the substance abuse counselor should be familiar with the latest treatment methods and collaborate with other mental health care specialists. Successful candidates will have excellent clinical knowledge and experience working with people in recovery.

Serve as Conduct Officer for student conduct cases occurring in residential areas.
Coordinate building operations: Assist with occupancy management as scheduled or requested, including but not limited to managing room and hall changes, check-in and check-out activity, roster verifications, etc.; Monitor physical condition of assigned areas and report work requests and desired facility improvements per established procedures.
Manage budget and financial paperwork including purchasing and expense reports.
Assist in major annual processes; e.g., staff selection, assessments, and serve on the on-call rotation to manage student and facilities emergencies, etc.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master’s degree obtained by the start of the position is strongly preferred. Field of study in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Counseling in Higher Education, or related field, is preferred.
Previous Residence Life experience (full time, or graduate) is strongly preferred.
Work experience in related areas of Student Affairs is required.
Experience working in a Residential College setting or experience working with academic and faculty partners, is preferred.
Experience supervising student staff is preferred.
Microsoft Office skills are required (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Serves on Spirit Leadership Team and attends weekly meetings. Serves on Summer Camp Leadership Team.

The Assistant Director of Fitness provides oversight of the Campus Recreation Group Fitness and Personal Training programs, as well as the fitness equipment within the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports. The Assistant Director of Fitness provides oversight of the Campus Recreation Group Fitness and Personal Training programs, as well as the fitness equipment within the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports. This position contributes to the accomplishment of Campus Recreation and Student Affairs goals and objectives through student development, assessment, and fitness programs and equipment oversight for the wellbeing of students.
Essential Functions:
Group Fitness Program Management: Develop, organize, implement, and assess a group fitness program that meets the needs of the SMU community. Recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise, assess, and mentor group fitness instructors. Manage the risk of the program and coordinate appropriate risk management plans.

About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
This position oversees the leasing and management of leased, 12-month, apartment communities (currently 4 properties) at SMU, totaling 48 units. This position is responsible for all aspects related to marketing, leasing, rent collection, day-to-day management, and unit make-ready on the apartments. Also assists in response to crisis management when situations arise. This position provides assistance and support for some financial duties of the department and operations area, and performs customer service work related to apartments and other Residence Life and Student Housing functions. Serves as back-up to the Administrative Coordinator/Service Coordinator in overseeing the student ambassador team and other front of house functions. Will assists with other RLSH main office initiatives and office supply ordering as directed/requested. This position is deemed "Remote Essential" under modified operations.
Essential Functions:
Accurately and thoroughly process applications for residency, prepare lease agreements, and occupancy-related paperwork. Collects security deposits and rent payments to be deposited into RLSH accounts, and institutes procedures against delinquent accounts. Oversees marketing of apartments to SMU students. Provides data/details necessary for annual reporting.
Physically walks and inspects communities on a regular basis. Inspects units prior to move out to coordinate make-ready process. Walks all move-outs, assesses charges and inspects vacant units prior to move-in. Manages all keys, lock changes, garage and apartment codes, and resets as needed. Coordinates with facilities staff to ensure timely Work Order response and make-ready of apartment after move out.
Manages resident experience and provides proper response and customer service when complaints are received. Responds to emergency matters as situations arise. Triages any billing discrepancies. Provides high quality customer service to all tenants. Maintains knowledge about local market conditions and impact that has on RLSH apartment properties.
Serves as backup for RLSH front of house operations. Assists with oversight and support of student ambassador team. Makes operations area purchases to maintain daily functions as directed. Supports and communicates RLSH policies to callers and/or walk-ins. Assists with clearance/access audits on a semester by semester basis.
Serves on department or institutional committees as needed or directed. Provides leadership and support during opening and closing of the residence halls each quarter. Serves as a resource to residents who have questions about housing policies and procedures. Supports RLSH processes and policies year-round. Other duties as assigned.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
This position oversees the leasing and management of leased, 12-month, apartment communities (currently 4 properties) at SMU, totaling 48 units. This position is responsible for all aspects related to marketing, leasing, rent collection, day-to-day management, and unit make-ready on the apartments. Also assists in response to crisis management when situations arise. This position provides assistance and support for some financial duties of the department and operations area, and performs customer service work related to apartments and other Residence Life and Student Housing functions. Serves as back-up to the Administrative Coordinator/Service Coordinator in overseeing the student ambassador team and other front of house functions. Will assists with other RLSH main office initiatives and office supply ordering as directed/requested. This position is deemed "Remote Essential" under modified operations.
Essential Functions:
Accurately and thoroughly process applications for residency, prepare lease agreements, and occupancy-related paperwork. Collects security deposits and rent payments to be deposited into RLSH accounts, and institutes procedures against delinquent accounts. Oversees marketing of apartments to SMU students. Provides data/details necessary for annual reporting.
Physically walks and inspects communities on a regular basis. Inspects units prior to move out to coordinate make-ready process. Walks all move-outs, assesses charges and inspects vacant units prior to move-in. Manages all keys, lock changes, garage and apartment codes, and resets as needed. Coordinates with facilities staff to ensure timely Work Order response and make-ready of apartment after move out.
Manages resident experience and provides proper response and customer service when complaints are received. Responds to emergency matters as situations arise. Triages any billing discrepancies. Provides high quality customer service to all tenants. Maintains knowledge about local market conditions and impact that has on RLSH apartment properties.
Serves as backup for RLSH front of house operations. Assists with oversight and support of student ambassador team. Makes operations area purchases to maintain daily functions as directed. Supports and communicates RLSH policies to callers and/or walk-ins. Assists with clearance/access audits on a semester by semester basis.
Serves on department or institutional committees as needed or directed. Provides leadership and support during opening and closing of the residence halls each quarter. Serves as a resource to residents who have questions about housing policies and procedures. Supports RLSH processes and policies year-round. Other duties as assigned.
Occasional weekend hours may be required during peak periods.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A minimum of one year of experience working in university housing or other relevant university setting, apartment management or real estate is required. One year of experience serving in a role with accounting or financial duties is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.

The Coordinator provides support for student activities by working closely with students to identify their specific interests and goals and facilitating their involvement in a range of activities. The Coordinator shares responsibility for campus-wide programming initiatives designed to create a vibrant campus life and sense of student community. They support student organizations, their leaders, and advisors through assistance with founding new and maintaining existing student organizations. A significant focus is developing and supporting departmental initiatives that foster student involvement and leadership development.
Essential Functions:
Advises student organization/programming board, to cover individual advising, meeting/event attendance, providing general counsel, budget oversight, training and development, retreats, recruitment, etc. This includes preparation and execution of university-wide traditions and events.
Develops and maintains resources designed to support the leadership development of student organization leaders. Advances leadership development programming among student organizations (specifically, student organization leaders). Expands the reach and impact of Student Center & Activities (SCA) leadership development initiatives such as training sessions, speakers, retreats, or conferences.
Supports student organizations, their leaders, and advisors through various aspects of a student organization's life cycle (founding new, maintaining existing, officer turnover, recruiting/onboarding/supporting members). Direct planning and execution of SCA initiatives such as recruitment/involvement fairs and student organization training. This will involve significant outreach efforts.
Advises one or more Student Senate Committees.
Other duties as assigned, which may include but are not limited to: special projects, task forces, committee assignments and supervision of graduate assistants.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred. A degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Leadership, Management or adjacent field is preferred.

About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Coordinator provides support for student activities by working closely with students to identify their specific interests and goals and facilitating their involvement in a range of activities. The Coordinator shares responsibility for campus-wide programming initiatives designed to create a vibrant campus life and sense of student community. They support student organizations, their leaders, and advisors through assistance with founding new and maintaining existing student organizations. A significant focus is developing and supporting departmental initiatives that foster student involvement and leadership development.
Essential Functions:
Advises student organization/programming board, to cover individual advising, meeting/event attendance, providing general counsel, budget oversight, training and development, retreats, recruitment, etc. This includes preparation and execution of university-wide traditions and events.
Develops and maintains resources designed to support the leadership development of student organization leaders. Advances leadership development programming among student organizations (specifically, student organization leaders). Expands the reach and impact of Student Center & Activities (SCA) leadership development initiatives such as training sessions, speakers, retreats, or conferences.
Supports student organizations, their leaders, and advisors through various aspects of a student organization's life cycle (founding new, maintaining existing, officer turnover, recruiting/onboarding/supporting members). Direct planning and execution of SCA initiatives such as recruitment/involvement fairs and student organization training. This will involve significant outreach efforts.
Advises one or more Student Senate Committees.
Other duties as assigned, which may include but are not limited to: special projects, task forces, committee assignments and supervision of graduate assistants.
Evening and/or weekend hours will be required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred. A degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Leadership, Management or adjacent field is preferred.
A minimum of two years of experience is required. A minimum of one year full-time (or two years part-time) higher education experience is preferred, preferably in student organization advising and/or programming.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
Candidate knowledge of student development theory, student organizations and program development is highly preferred.
Candidate familiarity with budget management is preferred.

Provide direction and leadership for a core group of students to promote awareness and effective delivery of health-related information and programs. Recruit, train, and supervise 10-15 Wellbeing Education Team members (WESTies) each year.

The position requires some evening and weekend work depending upon training requests and student needs.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:

Coordinate formal/informal council recruitment/intake processes.
Programming: Manage the planning and execution of FSL community-wide initiatives with specific responsibility for the Greek 101 informational course and event, the Advisor newsletter, the semester community grade report in order to further the development of a unified community and support values-based programming.
Serve as an active and engaged member of the Fraternity & Sorority Life team and support the department mission. Support the implementation and realization of the goals and learning domains in the Student Affairs strategic plan. Support and encourage adoption of SMU360. Complete other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY
The Executive Director oversees the operations of QB3 programs within the Baskin School of Engineering at UCSC and has a key role in formulating and implementing short- and long-term plans for QB3 programs and events. As liaison for the UC-wide QB3, the Executive Director manages ongoing relationships with faculty and researchers at UCSC, the two other QB3 UC campuses, and its external partners. The Executive Director also facilitates new collaborative relationships between UCSC and corporate members. 40% - Fiscal Management
• Assists the mailto:QB3@UCSC Scientific Director in budget planning and implementation; communicating fiscal and budgetary issues to the Scientific Director and Baskin Engineering leadership; determining financial impacts on the program using knowledge of university administrative organization, policies, procedures, and practices; resolving problems and determining the optimal usage of funds. • In collaboration with the Scientific Director, the Executive Director develops administrative policies and procedures to meet the evolving fiscal requirements. • Responsible for budgetary monitoring for all QB3 awards. This includes: monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and grant activity summaries; anticipating potential funding shortfalls and surpluses; and maximizing the use of funds through appropriate reallocation. • In coordination with the BE finance and research administration offices and the UCSC Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP), the Executive Director determines the need and takes action for implementing budget revisions and No Cost Time Extensions; manages award spending to alleviate/minimize the need for costs transfers; and coordinates year-end budget closeout. • Interacts with OSP, outside agencies, faculty and collaborating researchers to coordinate and/or facilitate the submission of grant proposals and reports, including budget preparation, text editing, and data/information entry. • Oversees general office business transactions; has signature authority for purchase orders, campus recharges, and travel/direct payment reimbursements; coordinates QB3 academic and staff appointments.

• In collaboration with the QB3 Scientific Director at UCSC, the Executive Director evaluates QB3 programs at UCSC and determines short- and long-range goals and objectives in accordance with QB3 academic and research plans. • Implements program modifications as determined by the QB3 Director, updates QB3 policies at UCSC and mission statements to reflect program changes at UCSC. • Develops alternatives and innovative solutions for a full range of problems and keeps the Scientific Director informed of the status, issues, and possible recruitment needs of QB3 programs and events. • Responsible for maintaining equipment inventory records, ordering parts and service for maintenance and repair of the QB3 computing infrastructure.
20% - Program Outreach
• In close collaboration with the QB3 Scientific Director, identify conducts outreach to potential corporate sponsors and partners. • Schedules and participates in regular UC-wide QB3 meetings with the Scientific Director and corporate members; develops and distributes agendas with background documents (as needed); records and distributes minutes; tracks and follows-up on action items.

The Executive Director is responsible for a variety of functions for QB3 at UCSC, including financial administration, budget planning, planning and organizing QB3-related meetings, developing and managing websites, coordinating infrastructure, supervision, mentorship, and evaluation of QB3-sponsored projects, coordinating research/incubator proposal calls and submissions.
The Executive Director will support the QB3 mission of: - Supporting the next generation of students who will shape California science and technology - the academic researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers of the future. - Facilitating collaboration between research groups within UCSC and with the other QB3 campuses. - Sponsoring educational and research programs of interest to QB3 affiliates. - Promoting interaction with California industry. - Funding research, equipment, and core facilities that enable scientists and engineers to develop devices, technologies, drugs, and therapies that improve human health, protect the environment and improve efficiencies in energy production and use. - Supporting endeavors leading to the creation of intellectual property and economic growth.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Budgeted Salary: $114,250 - $135,300/year. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. 40% - Fiscal Management
• Assists the mailto:QB3@UCSC Scientific Director in budget planning and implementation; communicating fiscal and budgetary issues to the Scientific Director and Baskin Engineering leadership; determining financial impacts on the program using knowledge of university administrative organization, policies, procedures, and practices; resolving problems and determining the optimal usage of funds. • In collaboration with the Scientific Director, the Executive Director develops administrative policies and procedures to meet the evolving fiscal requirements. • Responsible for budgetary monitoring for all QB3 awards. This includes: monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and grant activity summaries; anticipating potential funding shortfalls and surpluses; and maximizing the use of funds through appropriate reallocation. • In coordination with the BE finance and research administration offices and the UCSC Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP), the Executive Director determines the need and takes action for implementing budget revisions and No Cost Time Extensions; manages award spending to alleviate/minimize the need for costs transfers; and coordinates year-end budget closeout. • Interacts with OSP, outside agencies, faculty and collaborating researchers to coordinate and/or facilitate the submission of grant proposals and reports, including budget preparation, text editing, and data/information entry. • Oversees general office business transactions; has signature authority for purchase orders, campus recharges, and travel/direct payment reimbursements; coordinates QB3 academic and staff appointments.
40% - Program Management and Administration
• In collaboration with the QB3 Scientific Director at UCSC, the Executive Director evaluates QB3 programs at UCSC and determines short- and long-range goals and objectives in accordance with QB3 academic and research plans. • Implements program modifications as determined by the QB3 Director, updates QB3 policies at UCSC and mission statements to reflect program changes at UCSC. • Develops alternatives and innovative solutions for a full range of problems and keeps the Scientific Director informed of the status, issues, and possible recruitment needs of QB3 programs and events. • Responsible for maintaining equipment inventory records, ordering parts and service for maintenance and repair of the QB3 computing infrastructure.
20% - Program Outreach
• In close collaboration with the QB3 Scientific Director, identify conducts outreach to potential corporate sponsors and partners. • Schedules and participates in regular UC-wide QB3 meetings with the Scientific Director and corporate members; develops and distributes agendas with background documents (as needed); records and distributes minutes; tracks and follows-up on action items.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred. A degree in Sport Management, Recreation Management or Higher Education is preferred.
A minimum of three years of experience is required. Experience working in Intramural sports program management is required. Youth camp and sport club experience is preferred. A two year graduate assistantship will be accepted in lieu of one year of experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must have minimum First Aid training, CPR and AED instructor certifications or obtain upon hiring.
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.

Manages highly competitive application and review process to select new scholars.
Creatively grows and expands existing scholars program experiences based on University goals and priorities. Works with faculty advisors to each program to meet the distinct needs of the scholars.
Manages Hunt Scholars Program budget.
Develops new scholars programming in line with broader University goals and priorities.
Opportunity to teach EPL 3101, 3102 and 3302 to Hunt Leadership Scholars.

Education and Experience:
A Master's degree in higher education, business, or a related field is required.
Five years work experience is required. Experience working in student advising and program management is required.
Experience working in a Career center and admissions is preferred. Experience supporting or managing student and scholar programs is also preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
Candidate must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft.
Candidate familiarity with Handshake and Slate is a plus.

Residence Life & Student Housing fosters the foundational SMU experience where every student belongs, learns, and connects through their residential community. This role provides leadership and oversight to Engage Dallas. Engage Dallas is a place-based community engagement initiative via SMU’s Residential Commons to address community needs focusing on South and West Dallas. The initiative is a long-term, university-wide commitment led by students to partner with local residents, organizations, and other leaders to positively impact the community.
About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
This role provides leadership and oversight to the place-based community engagement initiative, Engage Dallas. As a member of the Academic Initiatives team, the Engage Dallas Program Specialist leads and supports campus-wide community engagement opportunities via the Engage Dallas initiative, including but not limited to large days of service, on campus and virtual education sessions, as well as provides supervision to a minimum of 13 student directors and a graduate assistant. Position reports to the Associate Director for High-Impact Practices.
Essential Functions:
Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises thirteen or more student directors leading community engagement efforts and requirements in their respective Residential Commons, including monthly service events. Ensures programs comply with risk management and legal affairs. Conducts regularly scheduled individual and group staff meeting. Promotes and trains student staff on topics related to community engagement.
Supports the development and execution of major Engage Dallas programs, including but not limited to, #1Day4Dallas, the Place-Based Community Engagement Symposium, Alternative Breaks in collaboration with the Office of Social Change and Intercultural Engagement, and other programmatic partnerships.
Participates in Peer Leader supervisor meetings. Supports the RLSH Peer Leader program through participation in trainings and special programs such as peer leader recruitment and Certified Peer Educator training.
Supports strategic planning efforts that aid in the growth and sustainability of the Engage Dallas initiative, collaborates with community and campus partners to align with strategic plan and initiative goals, and serves on the Engage Dallas Steering Committee, core team, and special project teams.
Assists with updates and maintenance of the Engage Dallas Canvas course and resource libraries. Oversees marketing and advertisement for Engage Dallas, including but not limited to monthly newsletters, blog posts, and social media posts.
Performs related duties as assigned or required to meet RLSH, Student Affairs and University goals, including budget and financial management and purchasing and expense reports, as well as time approval.
· Occasional evening/weekend hours may be required for student events.
