Position Summary

Serving as a liaison between Finance and the various operational departments, the Manager of Plant Finance is responsible for identifying financially-based challenges throughout the organization, researching various solution alternatives, and leading the implementation of improvement initiatives.  This role will also assist the Director of Finance and Plant Controller with forecasting and analysis projects as they relate to company growth and strategy, capital investment, and cost improvement initiatives.  This position also has pivotal roles during the month-end close process providing detailed sales information and bridging of sales activities during the month; additionally, this position is responsible for developing departmental budgets during the annual planning process, and assisting the Director of Finance with the annual plan presentation. 

Key Deliverables

  • Working with various departments (i.e., Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, HR Safety and Environmental) across the organization, including joint ventures, to identify, develop and implement cost savings and process improvement initiatives;
  • Prepares trending and analyses of financial results and developing reporting tools for key operating metrics;
  • Completes monthly sales activity detail during month-end close, and is responsible for completing the sales activity bridges as part of the monthly close process;
  • Assists and supports (as necessary) Amsted Rail’s newest business, Amsted Seals and Forming;Assisting the Director of Finance and Plant Controller in the preparation of the annual financial plan;
  • Develops and maintains departmental budgets for the annual plan and throughout the fiscal year;
  • Responsible for completing a detailed review of the divisions cost accounting strategy and provide a detailed review with recommendations for improvement;
  • Developing and monitoring the company’s cost accounting strategy;Assisting the Director of Finance with financial impact analyses of various growth, strategic, sourcing (i.e., make vs buy), and capital investment opportunities;
  • Assists project managers with capital requests in analyzing payback, IRR, NPV and other project critical analysis prior to submission for divisional approval. 

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting with 5-10 years experience
  • MBA a plus
  • Experience completing tasks and assignments with a minimum level of supervision
  • Understanding of business processes within a manufacturing environment and working knowledge of cost accounting concepts
  • Analytical skills and strong mastery of Excel
  • Project management skills
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with cost accounting systems
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Willingness to relocate domestically or internationally for advancement opportunities.
