The City of Portland is currently seeking a Pay Station Technician to join their team at the Portland Bureau of Transportation. Do you have experience diagnosing technical issues? Pay Station Technicians assemble and reassemble electronic pay station units; ensuring the overall operations of pay station components such as coin selectors, card readers, coin-vault locking systems, electronic keys, thermal printers, process control equipment and wireless communication equipment. The Technician responds to trouble calls and alarms regarding parking equipment breakdowns and malfunctions; performs preventive maintenance on electronic and mechanical components and related transmitting equipment; conducts multiple testing procedures to identify malfunctions; maintains detailed written and electronic records; drives a van or other vehicle to transport materials, tools and equipment and assists customers in performing transactions and understanding parking regulations. The successful candidate may be assigned to work shifts that may include four 10-hour days, five 8-hour days, Saturdays or a Flex Shift as business needs require. This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds, work outdoors making intricate repairs in all weather, drive a vehicle in high traffic areas, read a map, interpret location information and determine optimum routing, walk, stand and carry tools and materials for several hours at a time. Parking Pay Station Technicians are self-motivated; work independently, and have an exemplary work and driving record. This classification is represented by the Portland City Laborers.
