Job Description

Duke Talent Identification Program is seeking a Program Coordinator for Educational Programs to plan, coordinate and administer activities within the Educational Programs division. This position will assist in the planning, operations, and evaluation of TIP Educational Programs with particular emphasis to scientific fields and laboratory protocols and regulation. This position also coordinates the processes for procuring and deploying instructional supplies. This position will report directly to the Assistant Director for Academic Year Programming, TIP Educational Programs division. Work Performed

Develop curricular concepts for Duke TIP's summer program students.

Recruit, interview, hire, train, and supervise seasonal staff needed for the operation of the program.

Review syllabi, suggesting revisions as needed to ensure instructional materials are consistent with the instructional philosophy and best practices of Duke TIP. Serve as the liaison with site partners, site lab managers and other pertinent personnel to ensure that program offerings and materials in science courses and labs comply with site laboratory and safety protocols. Work with Educational Programs staff to ensure that seasonal staff are provided appropriate training in order to comply with science lab and safety protocols at partner sites. Assist with the development of program policies and procedures for staff and students.

Develop internal and external documentation and materials to communicate policies and procedures effectively. Communicate with parents regarding instructional content of Duke TIP courses. Coordinate the procurement and deployment of supplies and materials necessary for all TIP summer programs.

Coordinate the tasks involved in the receipt, storage and issuance of materials and supplies. Prepare related records in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assist in the development and management of the budget and financial data for the program.

Oversee and monitor the operations of assigned summer program sites. Serve as resource and advisor to on-site administrators. Serve as primary point of contact for on-site staff during program operation, and advise on-site staff with regard to program policy, curriculum and instruction issues, student discipline and other operational needs as they arise.

Travel to assigned program sites during program operation. Evaluate sites and make recommendations for improvement in program deliverables. Coordinate program evaluation materials to solicit feedback from students, parents, staff, and other stakeholders. Analyze evaluation data to identify trends and make recommendations for program improvements. Prepare annual report based on program data. Represent assigned programs on behalf of Duke TIP's Educational Programs management as directed; serve on various committees, and attend professional meetings as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in science or science education or a related field required, master's degree preferred. This position requires experience in curriculum development, oversight and project management. Work requires knowledge of science labs, materials, and equipment suitable to the educational environment. Work requires an excellent ability to work with people in a team environment, well-developed organizational skills, and process orientation. Other requirements are willingness to travel, proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
