Founded in 1984, Portland Baroque Orchestra (PBO) is one of the oldest period performance orchestras in the United States. PBO specializes in works of the Baroque and Classical eras, but also explores the musical world outside of those time constraints, performing with period instruments or replicas of instruments that were available when the music was composed. POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Development (DD) is responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive and strategic fundraising program which meets PBO’s goals for contributed income. The DD, in collaboration with the Executive Director, leads all aspects of PBO’s fundraising activities, including major, annual, and planned giving; corporate and institutional gifts; and foundation and government grant requests and reports. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain accurate donor records through PatronManager (Salesforce) and utilize them to measure success of giving initiatives.
Develop and maintain an effective system for donor acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship.
Develop print, digital, and video fundraising materials with support of Marketing Manager, including annual fund campaigns and mail/email/social media appeals.
Foster a philanthropic culture by educating staff, volunteers, and board members on fundraising importance and impact, enhancing engagement strategies for donor cultivation.
Provide training and guidance related to creation and management of donor records.
Prepare regular written reports for PBO Board of Directors.
Attend and assist as need at PBO performances, events, and activities.

Potential for remote work once a week based on schedule and workload.
Must be comfortable working in an environment in which directions and priorities can change rapidly.
Physical requirements: prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. Ability to lift and carry boxes/other items and set up tables, easels, and banner stands.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary for this full-time, exempt role is $70-$78,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Associate Director for Marketing, Communications and Strategic Insights plays a key role in developing and crafting internal and external communications strategy for the A. James Clark School of Engineering Professional Master’s of Engineering Program offered through Maryland Applied Graduate Engineering (MAGE). In this role the Associate Director is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic communications plans and initiatives in support of MAGE and directs and implements the Marketing, Communication and Data Insights efforts for MAGE. Identify trends and customer needs, building a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline in accordance with targets.
Provide insight for our Events, Marketing, and Business Development teams to further develop our sponsorship offerings and process.
Act as a point of contact for sponsorship information as it relates to net-new relationships.
Achieve revenue goals tied to sponsorship.

Business Development - Partnership:
Collaborate with our Business Development, Marketing, Fundraising and Strategic Intelligence and Information teams to find new leads or under-nurtured prospects.
Proactively seek and connect with new business opportunities in the market through your own independent research and networking.
Through a combination of different mediums, consistently achieve activity goals each month.
Consistently track interactions through CRM (Salesforce).
Build relationships with potential partners and work to secure partnerships aligned with their CSR/ESG goals as well as UWCI goals. Partnerships may be investing only, co-investing, working together on solutions, etc.
Develop and manage a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline.
Conduct effective discovery meetings with true curiosity.
Present United Way of Central Indiana's offerings and value to potential partners.
Maintain and develop a deep understanding of our programs, solutions, and sponsorship opportunities.
In partnership with the Sr. Business Development Director and the Chief Fundraising and Engagement Officer, create and attain income generation goals that provide true impact on the efforts of UWCI and our corporate or community partners.
Business Development - Sponsorship:
Create and maintain meaningful relationships with local business leaders/executives by educating them on UWCI's events and sponsorship opportunities.
Identify trends and customer needs, building a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline in accordance with targets.
Provide insight for our Events, Marketing, and Business Development teams to further develop our sponsorship offerings and process.
Act as a point of contact for sponsorship information as it relates to net-new relationships.
Achieve revenue goals tied to sponsorship.

Previous experience with securing deals or sponsorships is preferred.
Knowledge of using CRM (Salesforce) and prospecting tools (such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator) is preferred.
Previous experience in a customer/donor-facing role is preferred.
Ability to travel up to 60% within Central Indiana throughout the week. A valid driver's license is required.
