Serve as advisor, educational planner and advocate for prospective, new and current traditional and post-traditional (adult) undergraduate students and perform outreach and recruitment functions. Provide comprehensive advising to students concerning their academic plans and progress, academic schedule, choice of major and other academic activities and career objectives. Coach students in making decisions concerning personal and educational goals leading to graduation. Coordinate the CPE Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) individualized degree program. Perform the requisite functions of academic dean for non-degree and BGS students during all four terms (Wintersession, Spring, Summer Session and Fall).
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, psychology, student personnel psychology, higher education, student affairs or closely related field, plus 5 years’ experience in advising or counseling college-level students with emphasis on post-traditional (adult) students involving academic program design, administration and coordination in a regulation-intensive educational system serving a diverse student population required; Master’s degree plus 3 years’ experience in same as listed above preferred. Experience with online learning and Internet technology, articulation agreements, self-sustaining programs/classes and supervision of staff preferred. Must have an organized work style and be analytical, detail-oriented and accurate. Strong skills in critical thinking, administration, oral and written communication, and interpersonal/human relations. High-level ability with IT systems use. Knowledge of computerized student database records systems and platforms used in higher education (e.g., Banner, DegreeWorks, PeopleSoft). Success with use of technology to supplement face-to-face advising methods. Willingness to explore and master new technologies. Sensitivity to diversity and the needs of non-traditional students.
Hiring Salary Range: $41,900-$52,500 (normal starting salary $41,900-$47,200).
