Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) was established in 1922 and is currently ranked #1 among large U.S. Public Libraries serving populations of 500,000 or more, by an independent national study. CCPL serves 47 communities through 28 Library Branches. CCPL consistently ranks among the busiest library systems in the U.S. Last year, 7.6 million visitors circulated over 19 million items. CCPL employs 1,041 employees (398 FT and 643 PT) and has a composition of approximately 85% female, and 2.1% minority. There is one bargaining unit, SEIU1199, for 66 job titles covering almost 600 employees including clerical, paraprofessional, professional, service maintenance, delivery and some supervisory positions. The non-union staff consists of 63 managers and 8 confidential clerical staff and close to 400 student Pages and substitute staff.
