As a director of the company, the Director of Finance will work with 501 Auctions’ Co-Founders and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The Director of Finance will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. The Director of Finance will manage a three person finance team and oversee all financial functions including budgeting, reporting, cash management, risk management, financial control, audits, and taxes. This position is based at our Richmond, VA office.
Create and oversee short-, medium-, and long-term budgets and financial forecasts. Build and execute a company-wide cadence around planning, budgeting, reporting, and assessment
Work with business units to develop KPI’s and a detailed understanding of the revenue and expense drivers of the business, along with opportunities and financial risks
Work with Directors to build and improve the models they use for projections, reporting, and evaluation
Evaluate strategic alternatives and deliver actionable recommendations based on projected financial impacts
Partner with HR to ensure appropriate workforce planning is in place based on the strategic and financial plans of the business
Ensure the timeliness, accuracy and integrity of monthly and quarterly financial reporting. Oversee external tax preparation and audit
Maintain legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions, including maintenance of and enhancements to financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and controls
Assess and manage the company’s financial risks and controls
Supervise accounting and payroll to ensure accuracy and timeliness in payrolls, recordkeeping, A/P, A/R, and collections
Support company-wide execution to achieve the company’s growth and stability goals by providing strategic leadership for financial functions
BA/BS in Business/Finance/Accounting
At least 7 years of Financial Management experience with a minimum of 4 years experience in managing people
CPA/CMA/MBA highly preferred
Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting, internal controls, tax, and GAAP rules
Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to effectively translate complex ideas and tailor key messages to multiple audiences

We have a number of outside sales representatives and this a clear pathway to that role among other roles within the organization.

Scheduling qualified demos from all inbound leads for the outside sales reps
Scheduling qualified demos from your own outbound research for the outside sales reps
Making 50-100 cold calls on a daily basis to build and manage lead development pipeline
Proactively calling prospects in target markets on a daily basis
Answering sales emails and qualifying new leads over the phone
Manage data for new and prospective clients in our crm, ensuring all communications are logged, information is accurate and documents are attached
Building prospective client lists for our target markets
Assisting Sales Manager with specific sales projects in a timely, and detail orientated, manner
Learn and demonstrate a fundamental understanding of our services and technology platform and be able to clearly articulate the advantages over competitors
Contribute to every component of the critical functions associated with fulfilling the sales cycle (forecasting, reporting, customer database maintenance, communications etc.)
Working a specific number of black-tie and gala events in order to understand our specific industry

Work directly with clients by phone, email and in person
Gather required information to run an effective implementation
Train clients on system functionality and the implementation process
Run implementations according to client timelines
Perform and document a detailed logistics review for each event at least three days prior to an event
Manage staff and execute run of show to deliver flawless events for clients
Respond promptly to customer inquiries
Anticipate the needs of your clients
Handle and quickly resolve customer complaints or issues
Direct unresolved issues and requests to 501 team leads
Keep records of customer interactions and transactions
Record details of inquiries, comments and complaints
Maintain customer databases
Communicate and coordinate with the tech team
Improve and provide feedback on the efficiency of the customer service process
Build out both internal and customer-facing documentation to improve implementation and event execution
You must be comfortable and competent communicating by email, over the phone, and in-person (hospitality industry experience is great!). You will also need to be detail oriented and able to balance multiple priorities, clients, and requests on a continual basis. Weekend work and travel are a requirement in our world, particularly during the busy seasons (Feb - June and Oct - Nov). Full time, in-person resources only.
