Recently named one of America’s most exciting ice cream makers by Food & Wine, Salt & Straw started in Portland, OR in May 2011 and has experienced rapid growth with three scoop shops in Portland, three in LA (with one more on the way this year), and an exciting new concept, Wizbang Bar, in Portland’s Pine Street Market and increasing our employee base from just over 100 to 300 amazing people.
We started this company because we love to create great neighborhood places, which means creating unique collaborations with artisans and farmers to reflect what’s happening in the local food scene through our products, actively investing in our communities and taking good care of our team. When it comes to Human Resources, we believe you can do lots of good when you’re doing well. We’d like to add the right person to our leadership team who can help lay this foundation as we grow.
Since opening, Salt & Straw has created more than 200 ice cream flavors. The flavors have truly resonated with fans across the country, receiving editor’s pick by Food & Wine Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Martha Stewart, O Magazine, Saveur, GQ and Portland Monthly. And also featured in Time Magazine, The Cooking Channel's “Unique Sweets,” ABC’s “The Chew,” Today with Kathie Lee and Hoda and the Travel Channel’s “Bizarre Foods: Portland.” Food Network also named Salt & Straw’s Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper flavor one of the best ice creams in the country on “Food Network’s Top 5 Ice Creams in America”.

We have exciting plans for the future and are looking for a Director of Human Resources who’s an exceptional HR/people guru to join our leadership team and help us navigate this next chapter for our company.
First and foremost, you help in strategically driving the Human Resources for our business. You will make sure our Human Resources house is in order and address all compliance issues with all the while balancing decisions based on our amazing culture of taking good care of eachother. You will also develop strong relationships with our leadership team and ensure they have the information and resources needed to be successful and enable Salt & Straw to be the happiest part of people’s day.
