The Seattle Foundation is a regional leader in philanthropy, inspiring and supporting people to give generously to causes they care about and in ways that make a positive impact in our community. With more than $750 million in charitable assets, our mission is to foster powerful, rewarding philanthropy to make King County a stronger, more vibrant community for all.
Based in downtown Seattle, our 35-member staff carries out this mission by managing the philanthropy for more than 700 families and businesses, as well administering bequests and investing nonprofit endowments. We advise philanthropists on community needs, nonprofit organizations, and giving strategies to make their giving as powerful and rewarding as it can be. We make grants to nonprofit organizations based on a county-wide philanthropic agenda, called “A Healthy Community.” And, through our new Center for Community Partnerships, we lead targeted efforts to achieve greater economic and racial equity in King County.
The Seattle Foundation is the 20th largest community foundation in the US and annually award more than $60 million in grants to nonprofit organizations. We are overseen by a 26-member Board of Trustees comprised of local community leaders, business executives and philanthropists.
