We are looking for a Management Consultant with 10+ years of experience to join our growing practice as a client-facing advisor and solution leader. You will shape and sell data and cloud transformation programs, lead executive conversations, and guide engagements from first pitch through successful delivery.
This is a hybrid role across consulting, pre-sales and delivery oversight. You will represent EXL in front of our clients, data and technology leaders, and be a credible voice on both insurance and data engineering.
Our programs for insurance clients span:
Data modernization: enterprise data warehouse and data lake transformation, legacy-to-cloud migration.
Data mart development: line-of-business and domain data marts for underwriting, claims, policy, finance and actuarial use cases.
Cloud modernization: re-platforming data estates on modern cloud data platforms
Data governance: data quality, lineage, cataloguing, ownership and regulatory readiness.
BI acceleration: faster, trusted self-service analytics and reporting for business users.
Agentic AI acceleration: identifying, designing and deploying AI-enabled use cases on a governed data foundation.
Responsibilities
Client advisory and consulting
Act as trusted advisor to client stakeholders: understand business objectives, assess current-state data maturity, and define target-state strategy and roadmaps.
Facilitate executive workshops and discovery sessions; translate business needs into clear, actionable data and AI programs.
Build and deliver executive-level presentations, proposals and steering committee updates that are crisp, insight-led and decision-oriented.
Pre-sales and business development
Lead and support client pitches, orals and proposal responses, including solution storyline, approach, scope, estimates and pricing inputs.
Identify and grow opportunities within existing accounts and develop new relationships in the insurance market.
Partner with EXL sales, delivery and technology leaders to build repeatable offerings, accelerators and points of view.
Delivery oversight and engagement leadership
Provide solution and quality leadership across engagements, working with delivery leads and engineering teams to keep programs on scope, schedule and budget.
Proactively manage risks, dependencies and stakeholder expectations; ensure governance and architectural alignment.
Convert successful delivery into client references and follow-on work.
Brand and practice building
Represent the EXL brand with professionalism and credibility in every client and industry interaction.
Contribute to thought leadership, internal capability building and mentoring of consultants and analysts.
Qualifications
Required
10+ years of experience in management or technology consulting with a focus on data and analytics and AI ideally within insurance.
Good understanding of data engineering and modern data architecture: data warehouses and lakes,Medalian architecture, data marts, ETL/ELT, cloud data platforms, data governance and BI.
Proven ability to build and present executive-level decks and to hold credible conversations with senior client leaders.
Pre-sales experience contributing to proposals, solutioning, estimation and client pitches.
Experience managing client relationships and leading cross-functional delivery teams.
Exceptional structured problem-solving, storytelling and written and verbal communication.
Preferred
Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain experience across policy, claims, underwriting or specialty lines.
A track record in premium consulting environments, with strong engagement-leadership discipline and polish in client-facing settings.
Exposure to AI / Agentic AI use cases in insurance and to AI governance considerations.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms and tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, AWS or GCP, and with insurance core platforms such as Guidewire.
Location and Travel
Based in the Jersey City / New York City area.
Regular travel to client and EXL locations, including Atlanta, Charlotte, Bedford and Jersey City / NYC.
Base Compensation Range: $150,000- $180,000. The posted range is the hiring range for this role — a subset of the broader range available to employees over time — and reflects base salary across our national hiring scale. Final offers are based on several factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, internal pay equity, work location, market conditions for the role, and the specific scope and responsibilities of the position. The top of the range is reserved for candidates who notably exceed the requirements; the lower end applies to those with less experience or fewer preferred qualifications. For positions based in higher-cost zones (e.g., California, New York, New Jersey), actual compensation may exceed the posted range; your recruiter will share specifics during the process.
