The Department of Math, Computer Science, and Data Science at Graceland University is excited to announce that our growth plan includes a new full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics position to begin in Fall 2027 (or Spring 2027 if available) . The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or closely related field.
Job Summary: The Department of Math, Computer Science, and Data Science offers Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Information Technology teaching on the Lamoni, Iowa campus. The mathematics department supports a secondary education degree in Mathematics offered through the Department of Education. Teaching responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load. In addition to normal service activities, the successful candidate will strive to find ways to advance Graceland’s unique student experience and grow the department.
The key job responsibilities include:
1. Teaching: Design and deliver mathematics courses including general education Statistics, College Algebra, Calculus, etc. Moreover, create course materials, develop syllabi, hold office hours, and deliver lectures to undergraduate students. Review and revise course content to ensure it remains relevant and aligned with industry trends, academic standards, and ethical practices. Collaborate with other faculty on program assessments.
2. Service: Serve as academic advisor and mentor to students. Help students choose courses, provide guidance on career paths, and support academic and personal development. Additionally, participate in departmental and university committees.
3. Professional Development: Stay current in the professional field and engage in ongoing professional development. This may involve attending conferences, workshops, seminars, and more.
Required Qualifications:
An earned PhD degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related discipline is recommended, individuals with completed Masters degrees will be considered..
