Description
Position Summary: We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to design, analyze, develop, test, and support electrical power generation systems and associated controls used in generator system packages. This position is responsible for applying engineering principles and sound engineering judgment to ensure products meet performance, reliability, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements. The Electrical Engineer will work cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, service, supply chain, and regulatory agencies to support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions
Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:
- Design and engineer electrical power distribution, control, protection, and monitoring systems for generator packages in accordance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, UL 2200, and customer specifications.
- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, calculations, design specifications, and engineering documentation supporting new product development and product modifications.
- Lead electrical system design improvements and engineering changes that enhance safety, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and overall product performance.
- Perform electrical engineering calculations including conductor sizing, overcurrent protection coordination, load analysis, voltage drop analysis, fault current evaluation, and control system design.
- Investigate electrical failures, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
- Develop and maintain electrical Bills of Material, engineering change orders, and product configuration documentation.
- Evaluate and specify electrical components and equipment based on engineering requirements, reliability, cost, manufacturability, and compliance considerations.
- Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
- Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited university is required. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a plus.
- 3-7 years of electrical engineering experience in power generation systems, industrial controls, switchgear, power distribution, or related industrial electrical equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals including power systems, circuit analysis, motor controls, protection systems, grounding, bonding, and power distribution.
- Experience designing and analyzing three-phase power systems ranging from low-voltage through medium-voltage applications.
- Knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards including NEC, ANSI, IEEE, NFPA, and UL.
- Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.
- Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical Schematic, or similar electrical engineering design software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office skills, specifically, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Computer, copier and other office equipment.
Physical Requirements
Work environment is an office atmosphere. Work environment could also involve some outside
exposure. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit for long
periods of time; walk on non-forgiving surfaces such as concrete, wood, and metal; climb stairs and ladders;
balance, climb, stoop, crouch, and crawl; walk on hilly and uneven ground; use hands to handle and
feel; reach with hands; and communicate with others. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
