About the Role: This senior-level position offers an experienced accountant the opportunity to own core accounting operations — from the month-end close and general ledger to sales tax compliance, cash application, and account reconciliations — while partnering across the business on process improvements and finance projects.
Location: 5 days in-office, Tampa, FL, reporting to the CFO
In this role, you will:
- Close: Prepare, review, and post month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and recurring and adjusting entries, to support a timely and accurate close.
- Reconcile: Maintain general ledger account work papers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules, researching and resolving variances to ensure the integrity of the general ledger.
- Comply: Prepare, file, and remit sales and use tax liabilities across applicable jurisdictions in accordance with regulatory requirements and deadlines.
- Apply: Perform general cash application across both accounts receivable and accounts payable, accurately matching receipts and disbursements to open items.
- Balance: Perform cash and bank account reconciliations, promptly investigating and clearing reconciling items.
Support: Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules, intercompany transactions, and month-end balance sheet and income statement analysis.
Report: Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and management reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, and support internal and external audit requests.
Deliver: Lead and support ad hoc accounting and finance projects, including process improvements, system implementations, and cross-functional initiatives.
We are looking for someone who has:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle month-end close.
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation.
- Hands-on experience preparing journal entries, work papers, and supporting schedules.
Experience with sales and use tax filings and multi-state tax compliance.
Working knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash application processes.
Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
You may be a good fit if you have these additional skills and/or educational background:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CPA candidate is a plus.
- Experience in the retail, restaurant, hospitality, or technology/SaaS industry.
- Experience with high-volume transaction processing in a multi-entity environment.
