Feeds and waters animals according to schedules. Examines animals for signs of illness and treats them according to instructions. Transfers animals between quarters. Adjusts controls to regulate temperature and humidity of animal's quarters. Records information according to instructions such as genealogy, diet, weight, medications, food intake, and license number. Anesthetizes, inoculates, shaves, bathes, clips, and grooms animals. Repairs cages, pens, and fenced yards. Reports signs of illness or unusual behavior in animals to supervisor. Moves animals from temporary holding areas into appropriate cages or runs, as directed. OTHER INFORMATION Progression through this classification's broad salary range includes meeting specific criteria: Within six (6) months of hire, possession of valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a tank endorsement and no restrictions in order to drive manual transmission. Within a twelve (12) months of hire, possession of the State of Oregon Wastewater Collection Certification Level 1; California State University - Operations and Maintenance of Waste Water Collections System 1 & 2; Competent Person Certification. Advancement to mid-range requires satisfactory job performance; proficiency with CMMS and all other commonly used office computer systems; State of Oregon Water Collections System 2 Certification DEQ; Starting an accredited surface water education program that issues CEUs. Advancement to max range in the salary range requires satisfactory job performance; State of Oregon Wastewater Collection Certification Level 3 as well as four (4) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from an accredited surface water education program (plant identification classes; watershed health, etc.) (ex: Portland State University/California State University).
