This individual must demonstrate the highest level of understanding of the technical, business, and operational needs of the organization and the physical structures. In collaboration with other executives and team members, the CTO is accountable for developing and operationalizing the organization’s overall technology plan; and iterating on the evolving landscape in which the organization competes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Develop and implement the organization’s technology strategy in alignment with the company’s overall strategic plan and objectives.

This includes, among other things, media production and distribution systems, network infrastructure, business applications, communication systems, end user computing, etc.

Implement comprehensive cybersecurity measures to safeguard the organization's digital assets, sensitive data, and intellectual property. This includes conducting regular security assessments, implementing robust firewalls and intrusion detection systems, ensuring compliance with data protection standards and regulations (such as PCI DSS, GDPR and CCPA), conducting employee training on cybersecurity best practices, and establishing incident response protocols to mitigate cyber threats and data breaches effectively. Additionally, collaborate with internal stakeholders and external cybersecurity experts to stay abreast of emerging threats and proactively address vulnerabilities in the organization's technology infrastructure.
With the proliferation of digital content distribution channels, ensuring the security and protection of intellectual property rights is paramount. The CTO will lead efforts to implement robust digital rights management (DRM) solutions, develop anti-piracy strategies, and safeguard content against unauthorized distribution and piracy threats.
Evaluate and select technology vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships to ensure the delivery of quality products and services.
Ensure the safe and secure operation of the organization’s transmission facilities.
Ensure compliance with all FCC rules and regulations.
Maximize revenue generating opportunities at the organization’s transmission facilities. Negotiate and manage revenue generating leases.
Develop and manage department operating and capital expense budgets with an eye toward efficiency and impact.
Continuously research industry trends, consider what they mean for Cascade PBS, educate others in the organization, and synthesize what’s valuable into strategic and operational plans.
Engage regularly with local, regional, and national technology leaders to ensure the organization maintains the highest level of technical and operational business practices to position Cascade PBS as a thought-leader in public media and beyond.
Seek input from team members at all levels of the organization on technology needs, challenges, and opportunities.
Actively communicate, to internal and external stakeholders, the organization’s mission and values, the broader organizational strategy, and the specific technology priorities and plans.
Coordinate all areas of oversight and responsibility with other Cascade Public Media functions/groups.
Lead and manage a team of technology professionals consistent with the core values of the organization and diversity, equity, and inclusion in particular. Business students will be assigned to work with SEC staff members on projects and assignments that cover a broad range of the Commissions' work. That work depends upon the division or office where the student works. Business intern assignments range from supporting securities regulations to assisting in professional administrative duties such as human resources, contracting, auditing, etc. For information about the opportunities and the work that interns do in specific division/offices within the regional offices, please read the SEC's website . Business students will be assigned to work with SEC staff members on projects and assignments that cover a broad range of the Commissions' work. That work depends upon the division or office where the student works. Business intern assignments range from supporting securities regulations to assisting in professional administrative duties such as human resources, contracting, auditing, etc. For information about the opportunities and the work that interns do in specific division/offices within headquarters, please read the SEC's website . Position Summary The Network Security Analyst is responsible for safeguarding university networks and systems from cyber threats. This may include monitoring network activity, identifying vulnerabilities, implementing security measures such as firewalls and encryption, conducting security assessments, investigating security breaches, and providing recommendations for enhancing network security. Strategic relationships with key infrastructure vendors, primarily Cisco
Research industry guidance, frameworks, and best practices
Lead efforts in conjunction with Network Services around:
Setting and revising standards
Creating reference architectures, engineering templates, and pre-engineered solutions
Design/engineering of extremely complex infrastructure using Cisco technologies
Partner with Network Engineers & Infrastructure Consultants on the design/engineering of new infrastructure for which standards do not yet exist
Lead infrastructure design teams relevant to Network Services technologies
Contribute to best practices sharing such as capacity planning and Cisco network technology design
Participate in the Cloud Center of Excellence developing standards and best practices for cloud network connectivity in Azure and Oracle Cloud infrastructure
Collaborate with architects in other TO organizations (e.g., Application Services, TO Security, Infrastructure Solutions, Telecom Engineering)
Serve in on-call rotation as Escalation Manager for Critical Situation Process
Communications, awareness, and high-level education about technology strategy to Network Services
The technology areas in scope for this position include all technologies owned by Network Services.
Network Services owns all data network technologies, which includes network routing protocols, quality of service, MPLS network transport, SD-WAN, Cisco Nexus data center and wide area data network routing and switching, integration of our network with an internet service provider, cloud network service, establishment of VPNs (virtual private networks), voice call management, VOIP (voice over IP), voice contact center, video infrastructure technology, remote wireless routers, wireless LAN, and firewalls.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include: hold office hours, assign grades, advise students using online course tools and email, prepare course materials (e.g., syllabus, assessment materials), provide clear and prompt feedback on student work, and maintain the course website.
Lecturers are also expected to attend bi-weekly course team meetings with other instructors of the course, and are encouraged to attend monthly faculty meetings.

PATHWAYS AGREEMENT: You will be required to sign a Pathways Internship Program Participant Agreement. PROOF OF ENROLLMENT: You must provide proof of enrollment at a qualifying institution. STUDENT STATUS: You must maintain status as a current student while on this appointment. WORK SCHEDULES: The SEC Scholars Program will be full-time or part-time. This will be discussed, determined, and agreed upon based on the selectees academic course load schedule and division/office needs. The anticipated start date of this position is January 15, 2024. You must meet the definition of a "student" currently and after this date to be eligible for hire. This position is eligible to request telework in accordance with the SEC's telework policy. In order to be eligible for this internship under the SEC Scholars Program:
You must be accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree or certificate at a qualifying educational institution on at least a half-time basis (as determined by the educational institution); AND You must possess a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent.
You must continue to meet these eligibility requirements throughout the duration of your appointment under the SEC Scholars Program. Note: A "certificate program" is defined as a post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or legal school curriculum. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the job announcement.
Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
In order to qualify for this position at the grade GS/SK-03 level you must have successfully completed at least one full year above high school (e.g. completed freshman year of college).
In order to qualify for this position at the grade GS/SK-04 level you must have successfully completed at least two full years above high school OR an associate's degree (e.g. completed sophomore year of college) .
In order to qualify for this position at the grade GS/SK-05 level you must have successfully completed at least a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree OR a bachelor's degree.
In order to qualify for this position at the grade GS/SK-07 level you must have successfully completed: (A) One full year of graduate level education . OR (B) Completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree and claim Superior Academic Achievement . In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) - You must have a grade point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - You may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies.
