Position Summary: The Department of Theater and Performance Studies is seeking a Production Manager. The Production Manager will work under the general supervision of the Director of Finance and Operations. The Production Manager will collaborate with faculty, lecturers, visiting artists, students, and staff to produce six full productions per academic year and a number of other events in three buildings. Additionally, the Production Manager will liaise with the larger Stanford community in regards to the use of TAPS spaces and facilities. Core tasks include financial management, HR, scheduling, information management, and other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate must possess and demonstrate a positive outlook on continuous process improvement efforts while maintaining a team-based and customer-focused mindset. It is critical that the person in this position exhibit sound judgment and decision-making, effective written and oral communication, strong attention to detail, and respectful relationship management. They must also exhibit a strong desire to learn new and unfamiliar business topics, policies, and procedures as they relate to Production Management – the ability to translate this information into operational successes will be critical.
This is a 100% FTE, continuing and exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.

Work cross‐departmentally to prepare and manage complex program budgets.
Recommend and schedule events into appropriate off‐campus and on‐campus venues.
Oversee registration strategy and logistics.
May hire and oversee support staff, students, and contingent event staff.
Train and supervise junior event planners in proper execution and implementation of events.

Manage administrative tasks including media contact lists, media invitations and RSVP tracking, budget tracking, scheduling photographers and photo processing, and occasional travel booking. Work with other PR coordinators to review and deploy daily clip reports and quarterly board press reports, take inventory and order supplies as needed. Acts as an co-assistant supervisor to guide the office’s pair of interns in the day-to-day office practices. Assist with the creation of digital programs as needed. The other two coordinators create and manage the overall digital program content schedule and flow. During high-volume periods, this position may be called upon to assist with the gathering of materials, editing per Kennedy Center style, and routing internally and externally. Other duties as assigned. Key Qualifications 1-2 years of experience in public relations and/or entertainment media. Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in public relations, communications, or journalism. Background in or knowledge of the performing arts. Experience working successfully across numerous stakeholders, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Prior experience managing and executing complex special events and/or award programs is strongly preferred. Demonstrated strong working relationships on a team, with a collaborative commitment to realizing company strategic goals. A demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit in developing and executing ideas. Outstanding editorial judgment, strong verbal and written communications skills. Candidate must be local or willing to relocate to the DMV area.
