Job Description

Clark College is accepting applications for full-time, tenure-track Nursing Instructors.  Seeking dynamic candidates who embrace collaboration, creativity and innovation to support academic excellence and successful/effective student learning. The successful candidates will work within a team to teach a combination of didactic, clinical and lab courses. Department and college service work is expected with tenure-track positions to support the institutional mission and goals, foremost being student success and retention. All faculty and staff hired at Clark College are expected to embrace, continually support and enhance diversity and equity on our campus and in our community. There are three positions available.  One position has a start date of April 6, 2018 and the other two positions have a start date of September 14, 2018.

General Faculty Responsibilities  Renew skills and maintain currency in the discipline through involvement in professional development activities.  Effectively teach assigned classes/labs to support student success in meeting the documented course and program level outcomes.  Design and implement tools and strategies for accurately assessing student progress and providing timely feedback.  Use a variety of evidence-based and creative methods to promote learning. Engage learners and facilitate student learning by employing active learning strategies.   Demonstrate respect for others.  Demonstrate ability to work with others to achieve educational goals.  Attend required department meetings and activities and serve on campus committees.  Advise students, accurately and appropriately per department guidelines.  Effectively use computer applications for instruction and communication where appropriate.    Effectively use current instructional technology, as well as, consideration of emerging and future uses.  Demonstrate knowledge of the mission of the College, its student population, and educational goals    Engage in on-going curriculum review and development.   Participate in program review and outcomes assessment activities that impact student success.  Actively participate in program and college accreditation processes.  Maintain vocational and/or professional certification, and obtain relevant industry certifications as needed.  Collaborate with colleagues, local industry, advisory committees, and other educational partners.   Enhance and support all forms of diversity on college campus.  Demonstrate innovation in supporting student success and retention.
 
Minimum Qualifications  Master’s degree in Nursing or will have obtained a master’s degree in Nursing prior to start date.  Three full-time equivalent years of registered nursing experience.  Ability to teach in a variety of content areas which may include: Geriatrics, Public Health, Lifespan, Family-centered care, MedicalSurgical, Psych/Mental Health, Leadership and Management.  Active RN license in both Oregon and Washington (by start date).  Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.  Ability to work well as a member of a team in a dynamic college environment.
 
 
 
 

 Preferred Qualifications  Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the Clark College community.  Experience using a variety of teaching and assessment techniques to enhance student success.   Knowledge and/or experience with curriculum development and teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse student populations.  
 
 
Salary Statement Starting salary is $54,340 (non-negotiable). Faculty may be eligible to advance every other year; current top step is $73,600. Salary is for a 173-day contract; additional compensation is available for summer and moonlight teaching, and doctoral and vocational stipends.
