The work includes successfully managing projects identified in the TCIP using project management software. Collects and/or assists the engineer with collecting field data and applying it to design drawings and exhibits. Coordinates the transfer and integration of data supporting project drafting and design to include survey, geotechnical, engineering detail, as built, and GIS data. Coordinates the gathering of survey and mapping data needed from local, state, and federal agencies, utility companies, and survey firms. Coordinates work with graduate planners/engineers, interns, technicians, and administrative staff. Assists staff and management as a technical specialist and advisor. Assists in the preparation of, or prepares reports or studies, including spreadsheets, charts, graphs, technical illustration, maps and displays. Assists in the preparation of construction contract documents through collaboration with the Procurement (contracts) Office. Maintains complex office records, including maps, plans, boundary description, county road data, permits, legal documents, and similar materials. Job Description Kennedy Center Education Department seeks versatile, energetic AEA Stage Manager for its Equity TYA touring production scheduled for January 2024 – May 2024. Technicians receive weekly salary, housing, and per diem. Positions open until filled, with interviews beginning August 2023. Key Responsibilities In conjunction with the Tour TD/Lighting Supervisor, making adjustments to the design and/or performance elements of the show to fit each venue on tour, and consulting on advance questions as needed. Maintaining the performance, including giving technical and performance notes. Serving as a primary contact with venue staff when onsite. Calling the show, distributing schedule information to company, generating and sending a daily report of all travel, rehearsal, and performance information. In conjunction with the TD, organizing and running regular check-in meetings with tour crew. As the primary van driver, participate in the shared task of traveling the company to and from venues, along with other company members in turn, and maintaining all applicable paperwork (driver log, trip log, and vehicle condition report). Coordinating the use of the van amongst company members when not in use for production needs. Communicating with the productions creative team in order to successfully achieve the desired production goals consistently in performance. Serving as the primary on-the-road contact for hotels, and coordinating check-in and check-out at each hotel. Carrying a Kennedy Center credit card and petty cash funds for tour needs, and regularly submitting receipts to the Tour office. Other duties as assigned. Applicant must have a minimum of five years’ experience as a technician and programmer in: lighting, video, and audio, have solid working knowledge in: stage carpentry, basic computer networks, setting up bands and Orchestras. Applicant must have working knowledge of modern stage technology and procedures. Applicant must be familiar with the safe working procedures of a stage and its related tools and equipment as well as safe working procedures in a production environment. This position is one of the six “staff” recognized positions in the Concert Hall as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between The Kennedy Center and I.A.T.S.E. local #22. This position is a full time, hourly position with benefits, vacation, and sick leave. Duties & Responsibilities As JFKC Master Technician, Concert Hall, will work as a team member of the basic crew loading in, setting up, rehearsing, taking down and loading out productions. Master Technician will need to act as a leader to any over-hire employee’s referred to work in the Concert Hall by I.A.T.S.E. local #22. Master Technician will work with visiting “Road Crews” to safely and efficiently mount productions visiting the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Master Technician will perform maintenance on theatrical systems in the Concert Hall. Master Technician will perform other work as assigned and defined in the CBA. Other duties as assigned. Key Qualifications A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in Technical Theater. Bachelor’s degree in technical theatre; advanced degree preferred. Applicant must be able to work well with others, and be able to prioritize in a high pressure environment. Applicant must have experience working with union crews. Flexibility, the ability to work well under pressure, and the ability to prioritize in a multi-task environment are required. Equally important is the ability to translate the financial concerns of the Kennedy Center while ensuring the successful maintaining and acquisition of theatrical equipment. Frequent lifting and moving of heavy yet fragile equipment. Master Technician must be able to work odd hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and frequent work beyond 40 hours per week. Must be able to spend 10 hours a day standing and walking. Work Environment The sound and light level in the work environment varies widely from high to low intensity. Loud noises include power tools, sound reinforcement, equipment testing, as well as large orchestras, and loud musical groups. Working on elevated platforms, in aerial lifts, and in lighting positions in high places, will be required.
